If you are a volunteer

  • If you require a criminal records check for a volunteer position there is no fee for this service.
  • Print and complete but DO NOT SIGN a copy of the application and bring it, along with a letter from the volunteer organization (on the organizations letterhead) to the Truro Police Service.
  • DO NOT SIGN the application. It must be witnessed at the time that it is dropped off to the police service.

If it is for an employer, school, etc.

  • There is a $25.00 charge if the criminal records check is for anything other than volunteer work.
  • Payment can be made at the Town Hall between the hours of 8:30am - 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
  • Print and complete but DO NOT SIGN a copy of the application and bring it, with receipt of payment to the Truro Police Service for processing.
  • DO NOT SIGN the application. It must be witnessed at the time that it is dropped off to the police service.

  • Copies of the Criminal Records Check applications can also be picked up at the Town Hall and the Truro Police Service.
  • Please note that only residents of the Town of Truro may apply through this process. If you live outside of the Town of Truro you must make your application to your local police service or RCMP Detachment.
