Active Transportation Plan Report

Through 2024-25, the Town of Truro developed a Implementation Plan for the Town's Active Transportation Plan. The Implementation Plan will is the starting point for the next phase of development of the AT network. The Implementation Plan:
- studys design considerations, key routes, intersections, required and traffic crossings,
- investigates and make recommendations on the condition and quality of sidewalks, bike lanes, crosswalks, and other required infrastructure elements,
- observes traffic flows, and the interactions between different modes of transportation, and addresses potential safety concerns,
- and establishes the feasibility of the Wabanaki Trail, as the proposed trail follows rail corridors and crosses rail lines.

2025 Spring Flushing Schedule

The Truro Water Utility undertakes flushing of the water mains in Truro during the Fall of each year. Residents are notified during the water main flushing each fall and a schedule of the annual flushing is posted here, and also to the Town’s social media, local radio stations and newspaper.
Residents may experience temporary discolouration of water while the water main is being flushed and periods of low pressure. For this reason, residents are advised to restrict water usage during flushing times.

The Town of Truro and the Municipality of Colchester are exploring transit solutions for the region. If you live in Truro, Colchester, Stewiacke, or Millbrook, we invite you to fill out this public survey about your transportation needs and challenges.
