The Town of Truro holds a municipal election every four years to fill the roles of Mayor and Council, as well as the Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial (CSAP) representative.
This year the Municipal and CSAP Elections will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Eligible voters will be electing a Mayor at large, as well as two Councillors in the Ward where they live. There are three wards in total and the terms for the Mayor and Councillors are four years.
Eligible residents will also be able to choose a member of the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial. Eligibility requirements are below.

Voter Information
All voting in the Town of Truro municipal election will be done electronically. Electronic voting will open on Thursday, October 10 at 12:00 pm (noon) and run until Saturday, October 19 at 7:00 pm.
Self-serve voter kiosks will be available during this time, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, at:
- Truro Town Hall, 695 Prince St, Truro
- Douglas Street Recreation Centre, 40 Douglas Street, Truro
On Election Day, Saturday, October 19 a full service voter kiosk will be available at Truro Town Hall, 695 Prince Street, Truro from 8:00 am - 7:00 pm.
Voter assistance will be available by calling (902) 898-2020, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday from October 10 to October 19.
Eligible Voters List
Ahead of the voting period, please ensure that you are on the Voters List. To be eligible to vote, you must:
- be 18 years or older, and be a Canadian Citizen on October 9, 2024.
- be and have been an ordinarily resident in the province of Nova Scotia for 6 months previous to October 9, 2024, (since April 9, 2024).
- be an ordinarily resident in the Town of Truro, or an area annexed to the Town, and have been so since immediately before the first voting day of October 9, 2024
If you have recently:
- moved to Nova Scotia,
- turned 18 years old,
- moved to the Town of Truro,
- had a household member move out of the Town of Truro, or
- had a family member pass away, please contact the Returning Officer to make revisions to the list.
