The George Jones Memorial Fire Hall, located at 165 Victoria Street, is available to rent for community events, meetings, celebrations, and more.

In 1860, George Jones, a Black barber and respected community builder, brought people together in his Queen Street barbershop to form Truro's first "Bucket Company." His leadership and vision laid the foundation for the modern Truro Fire Service, demonstrating the power of community action and volunteerism. In 2025, the fire station was renamed in his honour to recognize his lasting contributions and the deep and ongoing presence of African Nova Scotian communities in Truro's history.
