Town of Truro to Hold a Special Election to Replace Ward 3 Councillor

Truro Town Council met on September 6th to announce the resignation of former Ward 3 Councillor, Juliana Barnard, and to formally recognize the vacant seat on Town Council.
During this meeting, Town Council also announced the date for a Special Election to fill this vacancy.
A Special Election in Ward 3 will take place on Saturday, November 18. Only residents in Ward 3 will be eligible to vote in the Special Election or nominate a candidate.
Those interested in becoming a candidate for Ward 3 must file their nomination papers before Nomination Day, which is October 24th. Anyone on the list of electors in the Town of Truro is eligible to be a candidate. Eligible voters in Ward 3 will receive a voter information letter by mail leading up to the Special Election.
The Special Election will be done exclusively by e-voting and residents will be able to vote between November 9 – November 18. There will also be a number of voter kiosks located in Town during this time, where equipment will be available to residents as required. Anyone who requires assistance with voting can vote at the Returning Office, by appointment.

The Plan deals with community values and priorities and presents action opportunities on issues informed by the Truro, Let’s Connect public engagement program. Truro’s Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw also contain the policies and regulations that guide how our community will develop and grow.
