Town of Truro Hemlock Conservation Program – Fall Treatment Update

This past June, Victoria Park staff successfully completed their first round of spring/summer treatments and training. During this time, the crew treated over 340 eastern hemlock trees across 10 hectares in Stand #2582 of the lower park.

The Town of Truro Hemlock Conservation Program will resume this September, continuing our efforts to protect eastern hemlocks from the invasive insect Hemlock Woolly Adelgid.

Treatment operations are scheduled for weekdays throughout September and October and are weather dependent. All treatment zones will be clearly marked, signed, and cordoned off, with strict re-entry intervals enforced to ensure public safety.

This season’s work will focus on Stand #2583 and Stand #2587 of the lower park.

Please note: If provincial fire bans remain in effect during the planned treatment period, the program schedule will be reassessed accordingly.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to preserve the Town of Truro’s hemlock forests.
