Deed Transfer Tax Bylaw

Pursuant to Section 168(2) of the Municipal Government Act, notice is hereby given that on April 7, 2025, Town Council gave first reading to a new Deed Transfer Tax Bylaw. The purpose of the bylaw is to increase the Town’s deed transfer tax rate from 1.0% to 1.5%.

Council proposes to consider this bylaw, and the second reading will occur on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the 3rd Floor of the Town Hall, 695 Prince Street, Truro.

Take notice that the Town Council will hold a public hearing to consider and, if deemed appropriate, approve the following development agreement application:

• Development Agreement Application by Tier Too Properties to permit one 5-storey multi-unit residential development consisting of 59 dwelling units and a mix of above and below-grade parking on lands of 60 Golf Street (PID No. 20452892).

This public hearing will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the 3rd floor of the Town Hall, 695 Prince Street.

At the public hearing, Council will consider oral and written representations from any interested persons. If you wish to make a formal presentation, please submit a written request to the undersigned no later than April 29, 2025.

• The purpose of the amendment is to establish requirements for Construction Site Management and remove the requirement for Occupancy Deposits.
