For years, hundreds of people have gathered at the J. Arch Fraser bandshell in Victoria Park (29 Park Road, Truro) to enjoy the Sunday in the Park Concert Series, presented by Truro Parks, Recreation and Culture. Each Sunday from July until Labour Day weekend in September, people of all ages enjoy live entertainment from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. There are special concerts scheduled for Labour Day weekend each summer as well.

Each summer, Truro Parks Recreation and Culture hosts mid-summer Movie Nights in Victoria Park. A popular attraction for locals and tourists alike, the movies are shown on a 20-foot screen at the park's J. Arch Fraser Bandshell. Hundreds of people gather each year to take in classic, new and family-friendly movies while enjoying the fresh summer air. Please bring your own chair.
Movies start at dusk approx. 8:45 - 9:00 pm.
Complimentry healthy snacks provided in partnership with the Truro & Area Community Health Board.

In honour of Canada Parks Day and having such a beautiful park in the heart of town, Truro Parks Recreation and Culture hosts a Canada Parks Day Celebration each year in Victoria Park. On the 3rd Saturday of July each year.
The 2026 event will take place on Saturday, July 18th, 2026.
SCHEDULE
General Info:
Clothing: During the race children will encounter multiple obstacles, while they run, that could have them jumping, crawling, balancing, and possibly getting wet. They should have appropriate clothing and footwear to participate in all aspects of the race.
Tentative schedule: The check-in and race start/finish will be between the tennis courts and ballfield at Victoria Park. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your race to check-in as race times may change slightly.
- Ages 3-4 @ approx. 9:30am. The age 3-4 race is confined to the baseball field in Victoria Park.
- Ages 5-6 @ approx. 9:50am. The age 5-6 race is mostly confined to the baseball field in Victoria Park; they will do two loops of obstacles.
- Ages 7-8 @ approx. 10:00am. The age 7-8 race is roughly 1km long, they will get to do a bit of a trail run and then complete one loop of the obstacles in the baseball field.
- Age 9-11 @ approx. 10:15am. The age 9-11 race is roughly 2.5km's long; participants do a trail run and then complete one loop of the obstacles in the baseball field.
Parking: There are a couple parking lots that you can use.
- Victoria Park Main Lot - 29 Park Rd, Truro, NS
- Victoria Park Pool - 2 Adam St, Truro, NS
Race Route:
- The course will be well marked with chalk arrows on the ground and signage along the route.
- We will have volunteers running in front of, and behind each group.
- Parents/family members are welcome to follow their littles as they complete the obstacles to help and encourage them.
Other:
- Bathrooms are available in the building adjacent to the playground / splashpad and in our maintenance building at the end of the main park parking lot.
- There is a water bottle refilling station at our maintenance building at the end of the main parking lot.
