...Nova Scotia Walk Day will take place on Wednesday May 14th 2025.
A FREE event celebrating how walking connects us to our communities and each other. Let's celebrate how walking connects us to our communities and celebrate walkable communities -- like Truro!
Enjoy the many physical, social and mental health benefits of connecting with members of your community in a gentle, friendly walk. You also get to visit Kiwanis Park which is a small but picturesque park located in the west end of Truro ideal for walking and jogging, picnics, photography and watching the ducks. There are multiple benches along this paved path and 2.5 laps around the pond is equal to 1.6km.
Walking is the most underrated form of exercise! Science shows that placing one foot in front of the other leads to some seriously impressive mental and physical benefits. Walking, and especially walking in groups, is the perfect activity for a person’s physical, mental, and social well-being. Connecting with people in your community and moving your body means you are better able to do the things you love.
Walks will be held around the province for the 2025 event. In Truro, along the Cobequid Trail, trail head at 4057 Highway 236 - walk will begin at 1:00PM!

It's almost Colchester Bike Week and that means it's almost time for the Truro Bicycle Rodeo. ![]()
Colchester Bike Week will be held from Sunday June 1st through Saturday June 7th 2025.
The location for the 2025 Bike Rodeo will be the Victoria Park Pool parking lot, with a rain location of the Colchester Legion Stadium. It will be held on Friday June 6th from 2:00pm - 5:00pm. More information coming soon!
Youth participants will develop their riding skills by learning new techniques, proper helmet fitting, and participating in drills and traffic simulations. Prizes WILL be awarded!
This year, we are proud to partner with the Ecology Action Centre to bring the Pop-Up Bike Repair Hub to the Bike Rodeo event, to provide on site light bike repairs and inspections. Through their Pop- up Bike Hub project, the Ecology Action Centre seeks to address the barrier of access to bike repair services that may prevent people from riding their bikes. The Pop-Up Bike Hub provides a mobile solution to many barriers and works with communities to develop programming that promotes a culture of active transportation.
Don't forget your bike and helmet!
