The Town of Truro launched its Art Acquisition Program in 2006 in an effort to create and maintain a collection of visual art which reflects the unique historical and artistic development of Truro. Visual artists - painters, sculptors, carvers, potters, rug hookers, quilters, photographers and others - are invited to submit an application to display their work at a public gallery showing in April of each year.
One artist will have his or her work selected to be added to the Town’s permanent art collection.

Each year the Town of Truro offers cash rebates to citizens who purchase and plant trees within the Town of Truro. The intent of the program is to incentivize citizens to plant new trees to keep Town’s urban forest healthy and growing. The urban forest provides numerous benefits, far beyond the aesthetics.
Under the Tree Planting Program, participants can apply for a rebate of 50% of the total purchase price for up to ten (10) trees per property, to a maximum of $50 per tree! Labour costs to have trees planted are not eligible for the rebate.
To qualify for the rebate:
The program runs annually between May and September, or until available program funding has been disbursed, whichever comes first.
To apply, participants must contact the Town of Truro after the trees have been purchased and planted. A site visit will be arranged to view the trees planted at the identified property.
After the site visit, a rebate application and rebate cheque will be completed and processed.
To apply for the rebate download pdf 2025 Tree Rebate Prgram(169 KB) or arrange for a site visit.
